Merapi Lava Tour is one of Yogyakarta's most iconic experiences — a jeep adventure through the volcanic lava fields at the foot of the active Mount Merapi. Aboard a classic open Willys American-style jeep, you will be driven through the dramatic volcanic landscape, passing through sites that bear witness to Merapi's powerful 2010 eruption.
Key stops along the route include the Mini Museum Sisa Hartaku — a preserved house engulfed by the 2010 eruption, now serving as a poignant museum. You will also visit the Alien Rock (a volcanic rock formation that resembles a face), the Bunker survival shelter, and the Water Attraction where jeeps navigate through a river stream. The longer track includes Petilasan Mbah Marijan — the shrine of the legendary guardian of Merapi who famously refused to evacuate during the 2010 eruption.
Four route options are available: Short (1 hr), Medium (2 hrs), Long (3 hrs) and Sunrise (special 04:00 departure, 2 hrs). Pricing is per vehicle, maximum 4 passengers. Activity runs daily from 07:00 WIB (Sunrise at 04:00 WIB).
