Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a 70-meter-tall stone statue of Maitreya Buddha carved into the cliffs of Lingyun Mountain during the Tang Dynasty. Built over 90 years to calm the dangerous waters where three rivers meet, it remains the world’s largest sitting stone Buddha.

 

Visitors can explore by walking down the Nine-Curved Plank Road from the Buddha’s head to its feet, or take a boat tour for a full panoramic view. Nearby, the Lingyun Temple and the natural wonder of the Leshan Sleeping Buddha add to the cultural and scenic experience.
